Dr. Richard A. Aschenbrenner

Rick was born in the mid-West, raised in Pennsylvania, and when he turned 18, he started his southerly migration by first attending the University of Delaware for his Bachelor’s in Animal Science and then The University of Maryland – College Park for his Master’s Degree in Animal Nutrition. He spent a few years doing some government service before again continuing south and graduating from The Virginia – Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech and moving to North Carolina.

Dr. Aschenbrenner has spent more than twenty years helping the small animals of Cabarrus and surrounding counties. He practices general medicine and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and growing up in the countryside has given him a love and interest for wildlife medicine.

Rick lives in the area with his wife, three kids, and whatever assortment of dogs, cats, horses, and other scaled, feathered, or furry things have taken residence. He loves the outdoors- hiking and camping – sports – watching more than playing these days – and loves, loves, loves music – going to see it, listening as often as possible, playing it, and poorly singing—usually to his family’s or technician’s pained grimace.
